Higher education and training support of R&D personnel

Objectives

To help transform the energy industry into a new growth engine, expand the workforce related to energy technology, and foster R&D specialists

  • Help foster convergent talent tailored to the needs of the energy industry and linked to employment
  • A track that links employment and training was introduced and has been in operation since 2011. It allows universities to cultivate talent using curricula that reflect the needs of energy companies in a quick and flexible manner—without having to establish new departments or graduate programs.

Overview

Include support for fostering talent with undergraduate and graduate degrees in energy technology-related fields as well as support for retraining workers

Duration

4-10 years (for bachelor’s, master’s, and PhD programs), 1-5 years (for training of current workers)

Support Details

  • KRW 200-500 million/year (for bachelor’s, master’s, and PhD programs)
  • KRW 400-100 million/year (for training of job holders)
